Here is most interesting things of the preview:

This game is mainly about the story and atmosphere The game actually contains a own developed system of Cinematic radio. This is a system that will pick the right car music (slow, fast, sad, fun etc..) For a given situation. In the game will appear about 250 models of people. Their physical appearance and clothing will vary based on the passage of time in the game There is about 100 interiors In the iterior you can destroy almost everything. For example, when you destroy the pub, so depends on the owner, if it reports to the police or the deal itself. Also, it will take a while before pub will work again Transport is controlled by three systems: Respawn vehicles in the parking lot, for near transport and for transport to one kilometer. Ordinary people have different activities, behave naturally and have their own AI People behave differently when they are alone, or in a group Will be Czech localization with dubbing! Extract from GameReactor preview

April 19, 2009

Another preview of the series appeared in the Swedish magazine GameReactor. On the official forums I found this extract from the preview (thx Mooe).

There are no loading times. The script is over 700 pages. The cops are more easy on you. You are able to turn off the lights in a room. There is a gym, you can train yourself new moves mele. Radio and newspapers will be able to inform you of new events, that may or may not relate to yourself in the article. The soundtrack in Mafia 2 is the biggest one 2K Czech have created. There will be no sort of multiplayer / online function for the game. You are able to upgrade / PIMP YO RIDE both internally (that is, the inside of the car) and externally. You are able to store “extra baggage” in the trunk. It’s easier to picklock / steal a car, but not that easy so you can drag out every single driver out of their vehicle. Gamespot preview

April 17, 2009

The sequel to the cult-classic 2002 open-world crime drama game will offer a huge open world, a deeper story, and much more brutal gunplay. Join us for the first preview.

Fans of the 2002 PC game Mafia agree that the game never got its due. It was an open-world mob drama with third-person action, driving, an outstanding soundtrack, and a memorable story (and a not-as-fondly-memorable frustrating car race that was later corrected with a patch). But 2K Czech and 2K Games are gearing up for Mafia II, a sequel to the unappreciated crime drama with a new look, enhanced engine, better driving, deadlier shootouts, and a brand-new story. We had a chance to see the game up close and personal, and we have much to report.
